Solid Waste/Landfill & Convenience Centers

The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors sold the Lunenburg Landfill to a private entity in February 2013. Currently, Meridian Waste owns and operates the Lunenburg Disposal & Recycling Center.  Lunenburg County employs a part-time Landfill Liaison to monitor the County’s disposal sites and the operations of the landfill.

There are dumpsters outside the gate at the Landfill on the weekend for disposal of waste.

Dumpster sites are for Lunenburg Residents ONLY.  The following items may not be placed in or around solid waste containers at our sites:

• Furniture and appliances
• Stumps and tree limbs
• Tires
• Dead animals
• Rubbish from buildings – demolitions
• No Commercial trash or carpet.

Please haul these items to the landfill.  Violators are subject to  $500.00 fines, 30 days in jail, or both. Monitored by Lunenburg Sheriffs Office and Lunenburg County employees. (Code Secion 62-32)
